Civil Service Minis Excel in Scotland
I am happy to report that Civil Service P4s, P5s and P6s played superbly in the Dalziel tournament in Scotland on Saturday 27th April.
The P6s won their section with a final nail biting encounter against Uddingston, whose club had just won the P4 section. Congratulations to Keith Alexander, David Brown, Jonny Alexander and all the kids.
Meanwhile in the P5 section the Civil Service Hawks and the Civil Service Sharks played the decider against each other with the Hawks just coming out on top. An excellent performance. Congratulations to David Bell, David Cochrane, Eamon McCoy, Bruce Barrett and Jonny Rose for all the hard work. Not forgetting the boys who put themselves on the line time and time again.
The P4s showed tremendous courage in their section. The fact that the Scottish players were a year older really showed at this age but our boys tackled like demons. All credit going to Brian Robertson, Gary Alexander, Chris Marshall, Mark Henderson and Cary Thompson. Special mention to all the kids from P4 who took part and gave it their all, the opening 7 – 7 encounter provided a lot to cheer about !
Photographs and video will be made available soon.
Big thanks to the core organising group of Ian Ratcliffe, Brian Robertson, Chris Caves and Conor Dunbar for all their efforts in setting the tour up, it was a very special weekend for all the kids and adults.
Clean sweep next year ??
Youth ‘Bursting’ At The Seams
The Youth section has just ‘ballooned’ over the last number of weeks, with new players now arriving in their droves.
Every training session now sees new players from many different schools, coming along to take part in the well run sessions.
Upwards of 40 Youth players were down at the Club on Wednesday evening, split into two age groups of U15s/17s and U13s, which was absolutely fantastic.
Youth training will continue on Monday and Wednesday evenings, with the last official session on Wednesday 15th May.
A series of games and BBQ will be organised for Friday 17th May and then a summer Touch rugby program will commence on Wednesday 22nd May from around 7pm onwards on the Everglades pitch (TBC). Summer Touch is open to all sections of the Club, both male and female and mums and dads and everyone is welcome to come along and join in the craic and have a bit of fun. More details on the Youth BBQ and Touch rugby will be released soon.
