Anyone who has played / is playing rugby at the level of Johnny & Darryl knows exactly what is happening on the pitch and recognises exactly the spark of genius that can happen throughout a side who then stop thinking and just do it. Yes there is alot of planning, training, drills, talking, practising, over, nad, again and without that there is no way a side will win any Ulster championship. But there is also the special ingredient of innocent hunger for
achievement that is the catalyst of elite performances. In this side no one had to ask these guys to put an extra special effort on the pitch, and nowhere in the side was there any worry about the future. These boys and their coaches were in a very, very special place, a side off whom their was no expectation but a bunch of boys who basically found themselves in the position of being psycholigically stronger than very, very good opposition and the the momentum was unstoppable and they won the Medallion championship and anyone you know who has won the MEdallion will tell you it is a game they will never forget. No wonder players reminisce forever about that game – it is spiritual.
