Countdown to week 6 of the Super league rugby competition
As countdown to another weekend of interesting action in the Northern Hemisphere of Europe. The League features total of 12 teams with 11 from England and a team from France. The summer event also leaves open doors for teams from Canada and Wales prompting it be recognized internationally as European Super League. The competition features 23 rounds of football which included 11 games at home, 11 games on the road and a game in a neutral venue for the 12 participating teams. Bet lovers that makes money from betting on sports like rugby are happy that the competition date is drawing near.
The competition have already kick-off its 2018 season with 5 round of games already completed. At the end of 5th week, St Helen have surprisingly taken an early lead in the title race with side yet to drop points with 5 wins to bag the 10 points. The club have also scored more while they conceded less in their games with an impressive goal difference of 113. The leaders are followed by a joint second position of Wigan warriors and Wakefield trinity who are 2 points below St Helen in the league standings and will be looking to keep up with St Helen for the title race. Leeds Rhinos and Wigan Warriors certainly are the most successfully sides in the competition with Leeds bagging 8 silverware in the Super league era while Wigan have been British champions 21 times.
While St Helen, Wigan Warriors, Wakefield Trinity and Leeds Rhinos belong to a class of potential winners of the silverware, Salford Red devils and Catalans Dragons already gearing up for survival battle as both are in the relegation waters. A win for both sides could see 10 place Huddersfield Giant slip into the drop zone.
Salford will certainly will really need to dig deep when Hull pays a visit on Friday. Salford have only won twice in their last 16 games and the supporters will be hoping for a statement from the players. Hull city maintains a historical record over Salford with a superior 32 victories to 9 defeats and will be looking to extend their dominance.
Catalans Dragons on the other hands will be hosting Warrington wolves in a crucial game. Both sides have only managed 2 victories in their last 6 outings with Catalans barely returning to winning ways last week against Hull KR, but a win for Catalan dragons could pull them out of the drop zone and further pile pressure on Warrington Wolves.
Third placed Wakefield Trinity will be hosting Wideness Viking with Trinity hoping to keep up with the title race as well as push upwards to second position if they can get their score acts together.
The big one of match-week 6 no doubt will be Leeds Rhinos visit to St Helen on Friday. Leeds Rhinos are currently in fourth position 4 points behind St Helen though have a game in hand. Leeds have not been in their scoring form so far this season but have won due to their incredible defense which is bettered by league leaders St Helen but Friday will tell.
