Service Victory in Virginia – Virginia 7 v 22 NICS 1st XV

After a brief but energetic warm up to help get the journey out of the ‘travellers’ legs, the match started perfectly with Service receiving the kick and driving back up the pitch for Chris Burns to crash over the line for the opening score with an unconverted try. Pete Hoskins helped settle any early nerves with a couple of well struck penalties after Virginia infringements, to increase the lead.
The second half was a more physical affair with big hits and hard running the order of the day. The scrum and lineouts were functioning well providing Man of the Match, Al Montgomery, with clean ball to release his backs. Indeed one such scrum resulted in ‘Monty’ popping to Chris Burns to slide over for a second try. Two more penalties from the boot of Hoskins sealed a confident display and a well-deserved victory over Virginia. Well done to all the team and thanks for the commitment on the day.

Asda Bag Pack Raises £Hundreds For Minis Tour To Scotland

With 27 children and their accompanying parents from the Minis section as well as 15 from the Youth group we had loads of cover for the 11 tills. In only 2 hours we collected a massive £502.
The Club received loads of compliments about the children’s’ good manners and politeness. The behaviour in the store was excellent and they were all a credit to their parents and Civil Service Mini and Youth Rugby, so a big thank you to everyone who lent a hand and helped make the fundraiser a huge success.
