Donegal Golf Club (Murvagh Links) is one of Ireland’s outstanding Championship links golf courses. The course was designed by the legendary course architect, Eddie Hackett, and further enhanced in recent years by “Master of Links Design” Pat Ruddy.
This challenging Championship Links golf course occupies magnificent Murvagh peninsula in Donegal Bay, hence it is known locally as Murvagh. The course is isolated from the outside world by a forest of evergreens washed on one side by the great Atlantic Ocean and by Donegal Bay on the others. It has a panoramic view of the Bluestack Mountains and the beach that runs along the Atlantic border is one of the finest in Ireland.
It has been described as the Muirfield of Ireland, similar in terrain with two loops of nine holes, the first nine an outer loop and the second nine an inner loop running in the opposite direction. At nearly 7,300 yards (championship) or 7,000 yards (medal) this course is long. The serious golfer needs to be at his or her best, while those less serious will still enjoy the course as it offers a chance on each hole to win a battle, if not the overall war.
Club Facilities
The Bar
Our spacious clubhouse offers many facilities to golfers either before or after their round of golf. Enjoy a drink at our fully stocked bar, or have our Chef prepare a delicious meal from our bar menu or full service menu, while enjoying the panoramic views of the Golf Course.
The Shop
The shop offers a wide range of golf clothing for the member and visitor alike. Grainne Dorrian, our Administrator, will attend to any reasonable request. Keep your eye out for the many bargains available.
The Locker Room
Visitor lockers, shower facilities and towels are available to help refresh you after you have tamed the course.
Donegal Golf Club is located on the Murvagh peninsula in Co. Donegal and can be accessed from the N15 Donegal to Sligo Road, the turn off is sign posted from the N15 and is approx 10 mins from Donegal Town bypass or 15 min from the Ballyshannon bypass if you coming from the Sligo direction.
