P7 – Saturday October 13th brought away matches vs Coleraine, always some of our strongest opposition. The P7s played three late starting matches on the day, with a great player turnout despite the scheduling change.

The boys came out strongly in the first half of match one and took the lead before untimately dropping the final result with a slow finish in the later part of the match. Coleraine upped their game in the second half and showed great resilience in taking it to Cooke with some great rucking and open field play.
Cooke could have easily gotten their heads down after losing a close first match, but came back in storming fashion to comprehensively beat Coleraine in game two. Scoring try after unanswered try through brilliant rucking, passing and support, Coleraine had no answers for what our boys threw at them. Probably our most ‘complete’ game we have played this year from beginning to end … never letting up on the pressure.
Game three was a tougher affair, with some fantastic play from both sides, but Cooke was more than equal to the task. Some amazing multi-phase play, with every player on the side contibuting, resulted in a victory once again for Cooke’s boys. An equally impressive game to the match two, with some fine play in both offense and defense throughout.
Well done boys!
The Good: Almost everything! The team only having a lack in intensity in game 1 which led to the loss.
Needs Work: Body positioning when recovering the ball off the ground, and work on our mauling technique when we can’t get the ball to ground and ruck. We will work on both next practice.
