Malone U19’s defeated rivals Ballynahing by 25-5 to lift the Roland Barr Cup at Ravenhill in front of a good crowd.
Malone had a point to prove having lost midweek to Ballynahinch in the Final of the Nutty Krust tournament. This young Malone side played some exciting and expansive rugby, Ballynahinch made them work hard but they were rewarded with some excellent scores during the game.
Many thanks to Ballynahinch who more than played their part and to their credit never stopped playing and were rewarded with a late consolation try. But it was to be Malones day and they left the field to jubiliant applause before lifting the Rolland Barr Cup.
This young side should be very proud of their achievements this season contesting no less than 3 Final, winning one and being runners up in the All ireland narrowly losing to Shannon, and in the Nutty Krust losing to Ballynahinch. Your club is certainly proud of all you have achieved.
Late in the game a Ballynahinch player was injured and had to leave the field, we hope his injuries are not serious and that he is returned to full health as soon as possible.
