Ballymoney U19 Russell Blair will played for Ireland U18 against France U18 at St Mary’s Dublin last Thursday.
Russell has been part of the U18 Ireland squad this season and is the only Ulster player to have been selected. The big second row from Balnamore, Ballymoney has also been invitied to represent the Ulster Schools BaBa side against Ulster Schools select team later this month.
This has been a dream season for Russell as he has also been to training along with some of the senior Ulster players and Raven Players. A full supporters bus of his friends, family and his past coaches and players went to support him on Thursday and everyone involved with the club wished him the best of luck.
President John Campbell stated, It is great to see Russell play for Ireland U18. We are all so proud of him and it is great for everyone at the Club as Russell has come through our mini section, maxi section, U13, U15, U17 and U19″
Youth Co-ordinator Gary McIlwaine said “I have followed Russell all the way through his rugby development and coached him at mini rugby. I hope he can fulfil his full potential to become a great athelate and go as far as he can in the sport”
