There was an immense feeling of pride around the Rifle Park clubhouse when Rory Best led Ireland out for their Six Nations game against Scotland on Saturday.
& Banbridge are recognised with Club of the Year award
Banbridge RFC has been honoured at the Banbridge District Council Sports Award, picking up the award for Club of the Year.
The accolade follows on from the club’s nomination in May for the Ulster Rugby Club of the Year Award and recognises a fantastic 12 months enjoyed at Rifle Park.
Last season, our U17s completed an impressive Ulster League and CE Bowman Cup double, winning the cup for a record 6th time.
Our U15s won the Ulster Premier League division, and drew in the Ulster League final with Carrick, The U15s also made their respective cup final, losing out to City of Derry at Ravenhill.
And to complete an impressive 2010-11 season at Youth level out U13s won the Ulster U13 Plate competition.
2011-12 has been proving similarly successful at Youth Level, in particular for the U17s who will face Portadown this Saturday in the Ulster U17 League Final.
At Senior Level, the Thirds won the Junior 2 League and added the Harden Cup for goo dmeasure, and our 1st XV narrowly lost out on promotion losing in a play off at Old Crescent. All five of our adult teams finished in the top five places in their respective leagues.
This season our 1st XV were narrowly defeated by Ballymena in their first ever appearance in the Ulster Senior Cup Final in December, and have enjoyed a successful AIL campaign to date.
