Scorers: Walker(2*Pen, 1*Conv), McBride(1*Try)
When Rainey OB IV entertained Ballynahinch VII only a few weeks ago, they lost 32-3. Yet when they fielded a very inexperienced side at Ballymacarn Park on Saturday, they held on for a 13-12 victory.
They had three debutants – Johnny Mc Bride, Conor Scullion and Aidan McElhone, while Fintan Martin and James Hepburn had not played for years. The mobile front row of Fields, O’Brien and Lee provided a solid platform for out-half McGoldrick to give them direction. A try from McBride, converted by Walker, gave them a half-time lead with two more penalties making it 13-0. Ballynahinch rallied well, scoring 2 trys in the last 9 mins and converting one, but it wasn’t enough..
