THIRDS WIN LEAGUE GAME
Ballyclare Thirds had their second game of the season and fielded a strong side at the Cloughan against Grosvenor 2nds. It was particularly good to see J.J.Baird returned from America and also David Crawford both backs could soon challenge for 1st XV places. The Thirds dominated from the start and by halftime had built up a 15-0 lead . This came from atry by Gary Clotworthy and one for Baird plus a conversion and a penalty by Andrew Alexander. The pressure was maintained in the second half but Grosvenor also managed a couple of scores.But tries for the home side by Clotworthy,Simon Reid and Clarke McCartney as well as a conversion for Alexander took the Thirds well clear for the win. There were strong performances by Cloworthy,Crawford who was the outstanding player with McCartney and skipper Turner in the forwards. The final score was 32-10 to the Thirds.

On Wednesday night under the Cloughan Floodlights the very experienced Fourths took on Grosvenor 4ths and had a convincing 55-3 win. They dominated but to be fair the visitors did not give up even though the home team scored nine tries with five conversions by John Wasson. They were 17-3 up at the interval even though Logan was sin binned. There were 2 tries for prop Stevie Crawford and one by Paul Morrow with a conversion from wasson while Grosvenor kicked a penalty. In th esecond half with wind advantage the home team continued to press and were rewarded with further scores from Cavan Watson (2),Neil Reynolds,Trevor Clarke,Steven Wright who was the man of the match and Harry Gaston with John Wasson kicking 4 conversions. According to centre Nial Lamont the game was closer than the scoreline would suggest.
