Limavady 1st XV had no game this weekend past so the focus was on the seconds who travelled to Portadown to take on their 3rd XV.
Limavady suffered in the first 20mins as they appeared to lack cohesion and the Portadown men took full advantage by running in 4 tries. This secured a 26- 0 lead for the home side. The visitors however found their feet and for the final 20 mins of the first half kept Portadown pinned into their own half. The score remained 26-0 at the turnaround.
A tough team talk and a determined grasp of the game plan from all players, set the scene for a comeback in the second half. Limavady dominated the remainder of the game and scored 4 tries, one of which was converted leaving the final score at 26- 22 in favour of the home side. A spirited comeback ensured a well deserved 2 points for Limavady with the added realisation that they should have won this encounter had they been prepared from the start.
Result: Portadown Thirds – 26, Limavady Seconds – 22.
