The Whitewell Metropolitan Tabernacle Church is est in Belfast for 50 years. The Senior Pastor is Pastor James McConnell, who was born in East Belfast. Whitewell as a church has 3,500 people attending each Sunday across two services. Five years ago to the exact same weekend at the Odyssey arena the Church held the same event, it was filled to capacity and even with extra seating people had to be turned away!
Similarly events have been held in Windsor Park Stadium,
Seaview and the Oval staduium as well as many others.
The objective of the Ravenhill Rugby Ground event remains constant with the theme of those other events and it is a message of Hope, there will be church singing and a worship group playing.
“We believe the answer for the people attending and the message for Ulster is the message of Jesus Christ,” says Pastor David Murray, events co-ordinator .
People are flying in from England, Scotland, Wales and Nigeria; from church organisations.
The event is open to every member of the community; young and old, regardless of their political or religious preferences.
The church will be providing free transport for the event from most major towns within a 20 mile radius of Belfast and free buses from the City Hall and their own Church car park.
A really important part of the day will be an offering / collection taken which will be given in its entirety to two separate charities – The Childrens Hospice in Belfast and the other 50% to the cancer unit at The Belfast City Hospital.
We wish Whitewell Church every success with this event and look forward to updating you on how it all goes. This worthwhile event and cause is worth supporting.
