4 Benefits to using cannabis
Cannabis, also known as marijuana and among other names is quite a popular recreational and medicinal drug. It is a natural herb. Most researches have shown the benefits and the side effects of smoking marijuana. Many people only know the side effects, little do they understand the importance of smoking weed. When it comes to health, cannabis has plenty of medical uses such as enhancing appetite in chemo patients to protect the brain from trauma caused by concussion. In America, many states have legalized the herb for personal use, and this opened a field of research for scientists. Scientists have seen the benefits of using cannabis which include:
Marijuana spurs user’s creativity. A study conducted in 2012 on consciousness and cognition researchers investigated the effects of smoking cannabis naturally to measure creativity. The study showed that marijuana made people be more creative regarding how well they used the language. Moreover, cannabis increased users whose verbal fluency was low to high verbal fluency.
Cannabis can improve the functioning of the lungs. Smoking weed is not that bad for your lungs as tobacco is. Typically, marijuana improves lung health unlike how people have believed that it reduces lung capacity. Most weed smokers improve their lung functioning compared to those smoking cigarettes and those who have never smoked. A journal of the American Medical Association, researchers said that the big drags taken by weed smokers may improve the efficiency of lungs.
Cannabis stops cancer from spreading. Typically, cannabis can kill cancer cells. Research conducted in 2014 showed that marijuana could significantly slow the growth of the type of brain tumor associated with malignant brain cancer. Also, after a test in the laboratory, the US government said that cannabis could shrink cancer cells. However, it has still not been recommended that smoking or inhaling cannabis can be used as a treatment for cancer.
Smoking cannabis reduces the chances of being obese. In the American Journal of Medicine, a study suggested that weed smokers are thinner than the average person. It further indicated that regardless of cannabis users eating more calories than non-pot users, they have a healthier metabolism and reaction to sugar. Dope smokers are less likely to be obese than non-smokers. To clarify this, research was conducted to determine the response of eating sugar between pot smokers and non-smokers. The researchers measured blood sugar levels and insulin before and after eating sugar. The research has shown that pot smokers were not only skinnier but also their bodies responded to sugar well.
The above benefits are fair enough for the government to legalize cannabis. However, in my opinion, weed should not be legalized in every country. Most marijuana smokers enjoy smoking in privacy. They say it’s the sweetness of smoking weed. Moreover, legalizing cannabis, it would seem like alcohol. Even though pot is better compared to liquor, still it has some side effects such as bloodshot eyes, and respiratory diseases caused by smoking.
