Two weeks after their league fixture Randalstown 1st XV again hosted Donaghadee this time in the Junior Cup first round.

Despite a few regulars missing from the line-up through injury or unavailability Randalstown started strongly with the forwards dominating the scrums from the outset. This pressure was rewarded when after ten minutes young scrum half Chris McGoldrick darted over the line for the opening score. Randalstown 2nd XV welcomed a strong Cooke 2nd XV to Neillsbrook on Saturday in the first game of their Junior League 3 season and were defeated 24-15.

However, the young side – many of whom were playing together for the first time – pushed their bigger, more experienced opponents all the way and really made them work for their win.

After a bit of a shaky start for ‘Town, the visitors took an early 12-0 lead. However, Randalstown soon got a foothold in the game and began to play some good rugby…… CLICK HERE FOR THE FULL REPORT !

U18’s Demonstrate Great Potential In First XV Outing Of The New Season

With this being the first outing for both Town and the visiting Rainey instead of playing a regulation 35min half fixture a more flexible 3x25min period match was agreed upon pre-ko.

With refereeing duties being shared Rainey kicked off into the sun and immediately found their rhythm setting off in attack and Town spent most of the first period on the back-foot with some very tenacious work in defence being displayed to a man. This typified by a near 5 minute period spent on the 5m line with some impressively organised and aggressive defensive work not allowing Rainey to breach the line…… CLICK HERE FOR THE FULL REPORT !

U14s

Saturday the 10th of September 2016 saw Randalstown U14’s welcome their counterparts from Rainey Old Boys on a warm and calm early Autumn morning.

Due to a large number of the squad being unavailable, the home team were only able to field 10 players. Rainey kindly offered 4 of their players as this was to be a good pre season run out for all the boys.
