{"id":2660,"date":"2014-10-09T19:59:14","date_gmt":"2014-10-09T18:59:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/intouchrugby.com\/connacht\/?p=2660"},"modified":"2014-10-09T19:59:14","modified_gmt":"2014-10-09T18:59:14","slug":"irb-establish-rugby-athletes-commission","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/intouchrugby.com\/connacht\/irb-establish-rugby-athletes-commission\/","title":{"rendered":"IRB to Establish Rugby Athletes\u2019 Commission"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/intouchrugby.com\/connacht\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/rugby-athletes-commission.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/intouchrugby.com\/connacht\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/rugby-athletes-commission.jpg\" alt=\"rugby athletes commission\" width=\"640\" height=\"340\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-2661\" srcset=\"https:\/\/intouchrugby.com\/connacht\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/rugby-athletes-commission.jpg 640w, https:\/\/intouchrugby.com\/connacht\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/rugby-athletes-commission-300x159.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nThe International Rugby Board has underscored its commitment to ensure that the world\u2019s top players are included within its decision-making structures with the establishment of the first World Rugby Athletes\u2019 Commission. <\/p>\n<p>The Executive Committee approved the commission\u2019s terms of reference at its meeting in Singapore on Thursday and establishment comes with the full support of Member Unions and the International Rugby Players\u2019 Association (IRPA). <\/p>\n<p>The commission will advise the IRB Rugby Committee and Medical Commission in the key areas of player welfare and law and will comprise players representing men\u2019s and women\u2019s international Fifteens and Sevens. Representatives will be announced shortly. <\/p>\n<p>IRB Chairman Bernard Lapasset said: \u201cThe establishment of our first-ever Rugby Athletes\u2019 Commission is a significant step forward for the sport and underscores the IRB\u2019s commitment to ensure that players are at the heart of world Rugby\u2019s decision-making process.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis important body will provide a closer link between the IRB committees and elite men\u2019s and women\u2019s players, informing and advising the IRB on all matters relating to the playing of the Game. I would like to thank our Unions and IRPA for their full support.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Other key IRB meeting decisions included the Rugby Committee recommending to Council that the \u2018crouch-bind-set\u2019 scrum trial be considered for law and that the head injury assessment (HIA) trial in the elite Game be extended until December 31, 2015.
