Australia started well in this one, winning a scrum just outside the Wales 22 after the initial kickoff. Continuing to pressurise Wales they won a penalty and took the early lead, 3-0.
For brief moments, Wales were able to play openly inside the Australian half of the pitch but each time they were pushed back into their own 22 by strong defence. France put in a fine performance to dispatch of South Africa and set up what will be a fascinating clash with Australia to decide who will top the pool.
France began well with a Christelle le Duff penalty chance after three minutes. The experienced flyhalf missed but France continued to pile her pressure on.
An excellent break from the powerful Assa Koita set the scene for what was to come for the rest of the half, with Manon Andre held up over the line only for a few minutes later Letitia Salles crashing over from a well worked forward drive……..
