<strong>Canada 31 Spain 7</strong> – This game started a remarkable pace and in the first minute the much lighter Spanish pack smashed into their Canadian opponents, turning over the ball. A classic contest seemed in the offing as Spain gave Canada no room at all in the opening exchanges. The teams looked perfectly matched until one player changed the game with Magali Harvey having a wonderful match. <strong>England 65 Samoa 3</strong> – England had no problem beating a Samoan side who were forced to play with 14 players for most of the game.
Samoa started well with a solid scrum and the first penalty of the game and their physical nature showed its force early on with some huge tackles, particularly one from Brenda Collins on Nolli Waterman as England attacked in the 22. The game turned on its head though after 12 minutes with a red card for fullback Soteria Pulumu after a horrendous tackle on Mo Hunt.
