Gatland mixes the old with the new in RWC selection
Exeter prop Tomas Francis and Bath second-row Dominic Day have been rewarded for their performances in the warm-up fixtures against Ireland with a place in Wales’ 31-man squad for Rugby World Cup 2015.
Yorkshire-born Francis, who qualifies for Wales through his grandmother, impressed on debut in Saturday’s 16-10 win against the Irish at the Aviva Stadium.
Former Scarlets player Day earned his one and only cap in the defeat to Ireland in Cardiff three weeks earlier.
While tight-head prop Francis and Day can look forward to their first Rugby World Cups, record-breaking loose-head Gethin Jenkins is on the verge of appearing at his fourth tournament.
