Starting off with the intermediate league, Thunderstruckers climb into first position, with a win over the Misfits, who brought to light why they are called the misfits, creating havoc and messing on the pitch, deciding winning won’t do the job, let’s have a bit of a laugh instead! Final score was 25-8, taking top spot from # Tag, with a slightly better points difference, who crouch, waiting to grab that top position when Thunderstruckers slip up. #Tag swept through their game with a win, beating The Generals 22-15. Legless Lizards not only knocked a win out of Strandvestites, with two early tries from Colleen Kelly, keeping them on the back foot all game, but knocked the Strandvestites off top spot into 3rd! A tight fixture, with the Lizards winning 10-8. Another exciting fixture, with another knock back with Yippee Try Yay knocking Guten Tag to fourth, winning 18-11. The next two weeks are going to be interesting for all in top four, who will consolidate themselves in the top half or find themselves falling from grace. Guten Tag have particularly tough games, with Thunderstruckers next week and Strandvestites the following week. Definite games to watch.
Moving swiftly to the Premiership, Swagger Taggers remain in pole and continue their unbeaten run, beating the bright orange of Expert Taggers 10-5. Tagmania take a close fixture over Ciddlers Freaks, winning 14-13. The Hornets take second place, pushing the Freaks into 3rd, with their win over G’ wan Our Crowd. A close game all the way. It wasn’t until the last 10 minutes when the Hornets overcame the Green G’wans. I’m conflicted who earns the Tagger of the night. Cathal Mulhern of the Freaks or Gavin Tansey of the Hornets. Gavin Tansey edges it with the beard. Everything looks better in a beard!
Let’s get to the championship. Cara Crusaders do themselves proud, with a win over the Abbvie All Blacks 26-17. Here 4 Beer slip into 2nd spot with a win over Scrumbags 25-17, keeping a better points difference then the Other Guys, who lay in wait in third, winning their game over Gym Class Heroes 10-6.
With a hop, skip and a jump, we move to Division 1 and Win or Lose, We Booze, (aka the long legged lunatics. No, I’m not talking about the Legless Lizards, although I can see where you would get confused.) consolidate their lead position by winning 29-18 over the Show Ponies. The Fenton brothers have clearly gone quiet. Will have to investigate next week! A fixture with the show ponies is always an entertaining fixture. Definitely worth a watch. Tag-quila cement themselves in to second spot, keeping their eye on top spot, with a win over A Bit of Blue 17-9. Great work from Darren Harte, helping them to their win. Finally, the Troopers of Yeats Tavern take a close win over the Jammie Dodgers who weren’t so Jammie today, with a final score of 15-13.
Now for the conference and we see Fairly Lively take a win over Volkstagen, 26-16, helping themselves to second spot. The Majors take down No Woman No Try 19-11, knocking the No Triers down a few places. And moving themselves into 3rd. Finally, last but. Not least, the green of Tagvie overcome Can’t Tag This by 9-7, minding their pole position.
Continuing with exciting fixtures next Thursday 26th June, followed by a Sligo Tag first, a comedy night! Eric Lalor graces us with his presence. Will definitely be a good night, so make sure to join us in the club afterwards 🙂
Also, don’t forget to get signed up for beach tag. It is on the 5th July on Culleenamore Strand and is a great day and night out with the Undercovers band playing that night in the clubhouse in Strandhill! Don’t miss out!!!
