Thurs May 29th, what a beautiful evening and an eventful night, to say the least! The intermediate league was riddled with close, exciting games. Guten Tag consolidate their 1st place with a 17-10 win over the Misfits. Misfits got their own back later that evening. I’ll talk about that in due time. Strandvestites take up second, who are looking like they have set up a strong team this year and won’t be settling for second spot for long. They beat # Tag, defending champions, 23-22. 3rd spot is occupied by the Thunderstruckers, who are always in contention, beating Yippee Try Yay 22-20. Legless Lizards beat The Generals in a nailbiter of a game and get themselves into 5th spot, quietly waiting for # Tag, in fourth, to slip up!

It’s the third week and for the 6 Conference gradings, it’s time for the big switch (Bord Gais wouldn’t handle this) into the Premiership, Championship, Division 1 and Conference. Let’s start with grading 1, where Swagger Taggers just about got away with the win over newcomers, No Woman No Try. Hopefully you will be celebrating a win next time No Woman No Try! Swaggers finish top, Cara Crusaders taking the second place but not without a fight from Tag-quila, who finished in 3rd. The Crusaders managed to keep the tequila lovers out with a score of 24-21. Grading 2 saw the Hornets take top spot by try score difference, who had their first loss to the Troopers, 19-18. A close league, try score difference deciding the outcome. The Other Guys slipped into second after beating Fairly Lively, 16-12. The Troopers then took third. In grading 3, Tagmania took their well earned top spot, beating Tagvie 16-5 in a entertaining fixture. Scrumbags earn themselves second after they beat the Show Ponies in an animated game where Leigh Fenton shows off his deceptively quick hips and his brother Richie shows off how little hips he has, by making some great breaks for the Show Ponies. A Show Ponies games is definitely one to watch, who finish in 3rd. Grading 4 shapes up with Expert Tagger taking a comprehensive win over second placers, Abbvie All Blacks, 36-3. A Bit of Blue have their way with the Majors, winning 20-12 and the Blues take their 3rd spot. In grading 5, there was a fight on pitch 3 for the top spot between Ciddlers Freaks and Here 4 Beer. It has to said that the bench looked well, with young Ray Mc Andrew, a picture of health, raring to get on the pitch! They took a well earned win against a strong and competitive Here 4 Beer, who take second spot. Third fell to Win or Lose We Booze, who, according to Heather, will stay true to their name! In there final grading, G’wan Our Crowd sail into top spot, winning over Volkstagen 22-5. Gym Class Heroes take the second with a win over Jammie Dodgers, 15-8. The Dodgers take their 3rd.

The first placers enter into a highly competitive Premiership. Second takes teams into the Championship, where they will fight it out for that top spot that eluded them. Followed by those placed in third make, who make their way to Division 1, ready to redeem past mishaps! I know it’s silly, but the Conference will see big changes, as newcomers are finally getting their tag legs and heads and will be playing the tag they were born to play!

Referees, keep up the great work. The games could not or would not go ahead without you bunch of lunatics and we really appreciate your good work!!

Following all this tagging, was a highly successful McHughs night for SOCIAL SHOTS CLICK HERE! Thank you McHughs! This is where Misfits redeemed their loss from earlier and won themselves a bar tab for being the team with the most in team colours! A few teams were no shows. A roll was taken and I won’t name or shame here but the Annals of No Craic will take shape with your names. Joking….or am I? 😉

Most important to most taggers careers, Fancy Dress Friday. Friday 6th June should be a night not to be missed. DJ and great prizes throughout the night to take you to the early hours of the morning. Good luck with the costume preparations and I look forward to seeing the result on Friday!!
