Galway Free Range Eggs, a local, family owned business today announced that it is linking up with Connacht Rugby to sponsor this year’s Summer Camps that are aimed at encouraging kids to get involved in rugby from an early age.
Almost 1,000 kids are expected to attend the camps which will run throughout July and August at 13 different locations around the province. With guest appearances from the senior Connacht Rugby team, the camps will teach the kids rugby skills and provide them with a knowledge and passion for rugby, which should take them forward to adulthood and may even help identify some of the stars of the future.
To launch the sponsorship, Connacht Rugby players John Muldoon, Fionn Carr and Darragh Leader were at the opening week of the Summer Camps at Galwegians RFC, and Muldoon outlined the benefits of these summer camps for children.
“The Connacht Rugby summer camps have been growing in popularity with children over the past few years”, said Muldoon. “It’s great to get kids playing rugby and developing great skill and teamwork from an early age. As players we love getting out to the different camps to meet and help them understand a little bit more of what the game is about. It’s a great buzz to see the enthusiasm and potential of the kids at the camps. I remember when I was very young at school Bernard Jackman took a training session and talked to us about rugby. It had such a big impact on me and my early love of the game. That’s why it’s so important we get out around to all these camps – these are the players of the future.”
Kevin Towey, from Galway Free Range Eggs was also at today’s launch and added “We are delighted to be sponsoring the Connacht Rugby Summer Camps. It is an opportunity for us to make a very positive contribution to the local communities in which we started our own business.
“These summer camps not only encourage children to get involved in sport at an early age, in such a fun and interesting way, but they also create a great occasion for children to meet up socially during the summer. We also believe our sponsorship will emphasise the association of being a successful sportsperson with a healthy and nutritious diet, of which free range eggs are an important part. Eggs are a source of a whole range of essential dietary elements, including protein for healthy bones, muscles and blood, choline for effective brain development and a range of nutrients to effectively fight disease.”
