Corinthians gain their first win.
Corinthians gained their first win in Cloonacauneen Park on Saturday afternoon. With only a losing bonus point to show for their earlier outings this was a must win against Thomand. Head coach Ene Fa’fatau has stuck with his youthfull crew who are now beginning to show dividends. The home side struck early in the contest when flanker David McDermot slipped in for a mighty touchdown. Fullback Simon Kellagher was wide with the convert but slotted a penalty in the fiftheen minute to extend their lead.Hooker Pat O’Toole got on the scoreboard in the fourteenth minute with an excellent touchdown after loose play by the Thomand backline. Kellagher slotted another penalty just before the break leaving the Cloonacauneen outfit leading by sixteen points to nil.
The fullback extended their lead after the oranges with another three pointer. Corinthians took the foot off the pedal at this stage. The Limerick outfit upped their game as Matt D’Arcy and Leo Slattery scooted in for two touchdowns. Frank McGibney converting one of the trys, which allowed them to secure a bonus point. Irfu referee Oisin Quinn blew for full time at this stage leaving the Cloonacauneen winning by 19 points to 12 points. Corinthians next outing is away to Nenagh/Ormond on the 17th Oct.
