This is Connacht Rugby’s fifth open training session in the last year and follows on from successful trips to Buccaneers RFC, Creggs RFC and Ballinrobe during preseason. This open session forms part of Connacht Rugby’s Outreach and Engagement Programme which will see them hold an open training session in all five counties of the province.

Pat Lam commented on the upcoming visit:

“We’re really looking forward to travelling to Carrick on Shannon. I visited the rugby club last year and was really impressed with the work that was being done. I promised that I would return with the full squad and delighted to be in a position to do that now.

Our open training sessions are always a great day out. I know the lads are really looking forward to making the trip to meet and talk with the kids and their families. It’s important for us to remember that it’s in these clubs that we started out, and who knows, these kids could be future Connacht Rugby players.”

It is free entry for all children and accompanying adults and the day will consist of fun rugby drills and games with the Connacht players. There will also be a chance for autographs and photos as well as a chat with the Connacht coaches and squad.

Kids are advised to bring their rugby gear.
