Carrick On Shannon Rugby Football Club, reformed in April 2005, having previously being named East Connacht when formed in 1974, the name was changed to Carrick On Shannon RFC in the early 1980’s, and subsequently disbanded in 1993. We at the Club look at our past as well as looking to the future when developing any new initiative’s as history can also point us in a positive direction. We decided that while Carrick On Shannon was our home we represented a much wider player constituency of Leitrim and Roscommon. We used the symbols from both coats of arms “the Lion from the O’Rourke clan of Leitrim” and the “Cross from Roscommon remembers St Coman and the Abbeys of the County”. Both symbols are united around the Shannon Bridge which joins the counties in the shape of a rugby ball……… see more at :- http://www.carrickrugbyclub.ie/1/2014/10/23/club-president-sean-mckeon-lauch-new-club-crest/
